Mastopexy and Thighplasty

So, as said before, I was scheduled for a Mastopexy and Thighplasty for December 8th 2017, 1 day before my 43rd Birthday!

I am going to spare you from posting pictures, because these are quite graphic. They are however on my instagram if you want to be really grossed out.

I had both surgeries combined and my surgeon took took 1250cc in fat with the liposuction from my thighs. She also took 28g of tissue from my left breast as well as 56g from the right breast.

I was already off pain meds since  day 2. Taking it easy and letting myself heal.

Recovery so far had been uneventful, except for the small triangular wound separation on the t-section of my right thigh. That I was treating with bacitracin and bandage at the time.

Week 12 or – 3 month update! Tummy Tuck

Finally the 3 month update!

So there has been a lot going on.

The scars are starting to fade, I can still to this day, feel pulling in my upper abs and in my lower ab right by my right incision.

I have ran my first 5k since the tuck and I must say I did way better than I had expected it would turn out.

Running on the treadmill at 3mph and 3.5 mph is not that bad, but as soon as I up it to 4mph it still bothers me a lot. So what I end up doing is reverting back to my abdominal binder for that period while I am running and it just feels so much better having everything tucked in and away.

Dr. M was happy with the results and how my incisions have healed. I am cleared to go back to normal exercise. I asked him when I am able to re pierce my navel, and he said to wait until I hit my 6 month mark. I am so excited!

I have re-gained 5lbs since our cruise in April and have not been able to shed them. I have started the strength though and it might just be “some new muscle” and some water weight, because I have noticed I am a bit dehydrated. STILL!

I have asked about inner thigh lift (needed but he refuses to do them because they do not heal well). My Chest area…. Them Boobies! Ha ha. I refer to them as tennis balls in tube socks. I went from a 44F down to a 32 D at the moment. He said he can almost 100% guarantee, that I would NOT be happy with a lift alone. I would need implants as well.

Cost: On base outrageous!

Off Base: Have not researched yet, but I am pretty sure out of the question for at least a few years until I have saved enough. I might change my mind. They look pretty good in a bra!

I have started at home exercises for my buttocks and inner thighs.

So here is what I am doing 3x a week (or at least TRY)

  •  step ups on my coffee table off all things! I do 3 sets of 10, alternating legs

  •  Sumo Squats, 3 sets of 10

  • Donkey Kicks, 3 sets of 10 alternating legs

  • Laying Side leg lift, 3 sets of 10 alternating legs

  • Butt Bridges, 3 sets holding for 10-15 seconds each

and last but not least: The STOMACH VACUUM. This one I do several times throughout the day, every day to work them muscles!

My actual appointment is not until June 5th, but I wanted to go ahead and post this now, to kinda let everyone know what I have been doing.

Week 6 Tummy Tuck

Finally week 6 is here and I am able to remove the Binder!

I am no longer required to wear the binder 23/7 and I am so happy about that!

here a quick look at what the incisions look like now.

I am now starting to use a scar cream to help fade my scars. Doctor had told me at my 4 week follow up that I am able to go back to normal exercise now. Just don’t over do and stop when something hurts. I am starting out with slow running again. I cannot wait to get into shaping with some squats and inner thigh exercises as well as upper body firming of my arms.

I am able to do almost everything without any discomfort now at this point. Saturday hubby and I are signed up for my first 5k since the Tummy tuck, and I am anxious to see what I can do and how far I can push myself.

I have been slow going on the treadmill the past 2 weeks, and I am hoping I can finish under 45 minutes!

At my 3 month appointment I am able to bring up in conversation my questions about

  • Inner thighs (if he thinks I am able to firm them up and fill out with muscle —-or… if he recommends skin removal)
  • Booty (if he thinks I am able to firm them up and fill out with muscle —-or… if he thinks I need BBL or implants)
  • Boobs (if he thinks I am able to get away with just a lift —-or… if he thinks I need a lift and augmentation)

Week 2 thru 4 Tummy Tuck

Today, marks 2 weeks since the abdominoplasty.

Both of the JP-drains are out.  I have a very slight amount of oozing from both drain sites and was advised at my follow up appointment to start using a Neosporin type of cream over them.

The PA was very happy with my healing process so far. He said everything looks great and most of the sticky tape over my incision should be gone by the next time I come in. 2 weeks from now on April 7th I have my 1 month follow up. He is hoping that most of my stitches around the belly button will have dissolved by then and my incisions should be closed completely.

I am continuing to wear my binder for the first 6 weeks he said.

Hopefully at my appointment all incisions are healed and I can start with scar treatment.

He said I can shower as normal,  but still no soaking until all stitches have dissolved.  He explained that sometimes they can act like a candle fuse and introduce bad bacteria. I am able to suntan outside as long as I keep my incisions covered. In the first year the incisions are hyper sensitive and will absorb the sun at a more rapid rate causing the scars to darken permanently. So the best thing is to keep them covered for the first year after.

I am perfectly fine with that.  I want them to be as light and flat as possible so I will do everything in my power to let them heal.

The first week Tummy Tuck

So they say the first week after surgery is the hardest…

Immediate after surgery and the first two days were pretty much spend in bed sleeping and resting. Day 3 after surgery is what my PA had referenced to as Shower day. This was the first time I was allowed to remove the binder and my dressings and take a shower. It felt really awkward not having the binder around my tummy. I was also allowed to take off the clear tape over my belly button and take out the gauze. I was instructed to take my shower but to make sure no soap got onto my incision and not to rub when washing or drying off. My hubby helped with washing my hair and I had hung my drains around my neck from a lanyard to not get them caught on something and not to pull them out on accident.

Walking gets easier and I had my first BM today. I made sure to take Colace per instructions, had some Prune juice and coffee to get me going. I still get tired and the drains are slowing drastically down with their output. I am hoping to get them pulled out tomorrow.

I had 12cc in the right over the last 24 hours and 20cc in the left.

I am a side sleeper and having these drains in I have to sleep on my back making sure I don’t accidentally squish the drains or pull them out.

I am still waling hunched over but I am no longer shuffling my feet.

Step counts have been embarrassing low.

Day 1 after surgery total steps were 167.

Day 2 total steps were 460

Day 3 total steps were 419

Recovery Tummy Tuck

I woke up in the recovery area with two great nurses. They kept me comfortable and made sure they met my needs, one of the pressure cuffs around my right calve didn’t pump, so they checked it out and got it to working.

From recovery, as soon as I was able to see clear without double vision, I was moved into the temporary room where they made me change from bed to a recliner. I had to be able to eat something and drink something before they were able to discharge me. At this time they also brought hubby back in.

I could see how relieved he was seeing I was up and already back to eating. I had an apple juice, some cranberry juice, then they gave me some unsalted soda crackers and graham cracker.  I kept everything down and was cleared to go home after they got all my prescriptions together and went over post op care with me.

Finally in the car, I asked hubby to stop by the store to get some sugar free Popsicle’s for my sore throat. Pain was tolerable at this point. Getting in and out of the bed was not an easy task. I had to have hubby help pull me upright since everything was so tight.

Surgery Day Tummy Tuck

So the day is finally here.

Report time was 11am. I hardly was able to sleep at all last night.  I ended up going to bed at 11pm, making sure to get a last minute snack and some water.

I woke up several times during the night, and we finally got up around 7am. I got ready and we headed to the hospital, where we arrived about 1 hour before report time. I checked in and then we waited right up until about 10:30am when the nurse called me back. They checked my vitals, put some sweet id bracelets and a fall risk bracelet on me. They gave me the standard gown to change into and then the wait began. First the nurse came back with consent forms I had to sign and then I started to get hooked up with some nausea meds, a nausea patch,  tyenol and they laid the first line for the IV. Right around 12 noon is when my surgeon showed up to mark me, went over the procedure one last time and gave me the opportunity to ask any last minute questions. About 30 minutes or so after that,  the OR nurse came in, asked all the same questions everyone else already asked, verified name and procedure and cleared me for anesthesia to come in. She said I should be feeling quite tipsy soon and I was able to kiss hubby good bye, gave him a high five and that was about the last thing I remember before waking up in recovery.

here the dreaded before:

The night before my Tummy Tuck

After losing 100lbs with my Sleeve, I developed a lot of extra skin around my tummy area that was causing rashes and discomfort.

My PA put in a referral to the Plastic Surgery Department, and I had a consultation with Dr. M. He explained the procedure and said I was an excellent candidate for a full abdominoplasty.

Oh boy, so I have been trying to keep myself as busy as possible.

I have been good at it for most of the day.

I went and jumped in the car, drove over to Starbucks and got myself a Skinny Mocha Frappuccino.

Went from there to Ross to pick up some sweats to be comfy after surgery and a few front button shirts, as was recommended to me, since you don’t want to have to lift your arms up to pull a shirt over your head.

I was surprised and found 2 cute pairs of sweats on sale and a nice flannel like front button shirt. I walked out of Ross with 2 pairs of sweats and the shirt for $20!

From there I decided to go to Dollar Tree and grab a few clothes hangers, walking through the isles I found a super cute Dory Dry erase board, grabbed a marble cake for my son and some aluminum foil.

By that time I was ready for another Starbucks and this time grabbed a Almond Milk Sugar Free Cinnamon Dolce Macchiato.

Man I was on a roll…..

Stopped by Lowes to pick up some staples for my Pneumatic Stapler and went on my way to go back home. I was starting to get a bit dizzy by the time I got back since my blood sugar had dropped way low. I realized I hadn’t had anything to eat since this mornings yogurt with granola. So I grabbed a quick protein bar.

I started doing some laundry and did some dishes, then I worked on a project I had been putting off for a while. I compilation of some Dollar Store picture frames made into a multiple picture frame with an anchor in the middle to hang on our cruise wall.

At that time my youngest came home from school with the newest Kevin Hard movie and we sat down and watched this one together. It’s almost 6pm and I just had another snack. This time I opted for some turkey sticks, an ounce of fat free colby cheese, a few grapes and these Jalapeno mustard protein sticks I had picked up a few days ago at my local HEB. Now I am sitting here typing, because I really don’t know what else to do with myself. I still need to take my night shower, prepping myself for surgery tomorrow and washing my hair. I have until midnight to eat and drink, and nothing after that.

The hardest part will be in the morning. I am not scheduled until 11am! YIKES

I am hoping to take a few before pictures to be able to document the journey.
